We are really struggling trying to figure out if people coming to our site can figure out what its about in a short period of time.

NichePage | Share Your Niche

If you could go to the site above and really quickly try to figure out the purpose for the site and then share your findings here that would be great. Best feedback I can get is telling me what you think the site is about and how you came to that conclusion.

Thanks!

From my first impressions of the site, it looks like your pushing the features of the site/platform, when you should be pushing the benefits. What's in it for the user/visitor?

I kind of get it, but honestly it doesn't make much sense. Not explained well.

If I understand it correctly, it is more of a, "The best products" type site. Isn't it kind of a twist on something like retailmenot?

That is very true. The homepage does push the features rather than the benefits of the site. Thank you for that feedback!

The purpose of the site is to give writers a platform to create a page that teaches others how to shop for a certain line of products that the writer is familiar with. The writer also recommends products on his page that readers can purchase from Amazon and the writer will earn a commission from the sale. So basically the site provides a platform for people to share their knowledge about products and for shoppers to get advice from that man behind the counter from the comfort of their own home!

Do you not get that impression from the site though?

      Thanks!

I kind of got the jist of the site, but it was not as clear as it could or should be. I was trying to think of some idea's for selling it better but my brain is just not working right today.

Maybe something along the lines of "Discover the best of the best products with trusted recommendations from..." That stinks, but maybe it will get some ideas going. You know your site and the idea better than any one, so you just need to extract the benefits to your visitors, what they get from using the site. Does it solve a problem? Does it make their life easier or better?

It seems to be a product or service review site / product recommendation site.( I did not click any links and did a quick look.) With one group supplying the information based on first hand experience or knowledge and appealing to another group who may be seeking additional information on products or services they might be considering using or purchasing. It looks like you may reward or pay some people for creating reviews. I quickly looked at the page and got this from the way you presented it. I'd say it's a 6 out of 10 in my opinion for grabbing your attention and explaining your service. I like the concept though and could see you do well with it.

You can make it clearer by adding a company tagline ( not sure if share, learn, buy is your tagline or just a suggestion)- much bolder and in your face. Maybe Share/Learn/Earn. Then add a detailed description of your service or a link explain it further (which you have)- SHARE your experience and knowledge with other's to help them learn the pro's and con's of products. LEARN from experienced professionals and consumers the benefits or problems of products or services and the way to properly use and BUY the product (your site or affiliates) . EARN money or prizes for creating detailed high ranked reviews. It's a win/win for everyone. SHARE,LEARN,(BUY), EARN The tagline should be big and bold and stand out right from the start.

The key seems to be getting quality reviews. So instead of BUY I like EARN to encourage others to give reviews that will bring in eyes seeking more product information and potentially rewarding them for doing that. The BUYING part pretty self explanatory if you are offering a buy now button or affiliate link with the particular reviews. I guess you could make it a part of the tagline. I prefer the short but sweet keep it simple rule for taglines and logo's or motto's.

I personally like bold bright colors when trying to get someone's attention. For example for street signs I always had great luck with a bright yellow mustard background with bright red lettering about the color of a fire truck (very tough to ignore this color combo).Brick and mortar retail and wholesale businesses is where I have my experience both running and owning, I am new to IM but much of marketing crosses over I suspect. I like lot's of contrast to catch peoples attention. I also did a big building sign in irritating Baby blue and people could not take their eyes of it because it was so out of place. It worked very well and brought it many new customers. The Blue on your site is fine but it's a pretty standard color it does not pop out at you. That is the first key get their attention and color is the easiest and fastest way, of course quickly describe your business and benefits if you can. Keep in mind you only have seconds to grab a potential customers attention to make a statement and get them to react. This is my approach It has worker well for me. Good luck to you.

Hi zfa32937 I can understand what the site is about but I am not sure if a person that comes to the site will. You need to define the target market (the people that you want to get as users). If you are aiming at consumers, the name Niche is not that well known or understood by consumers looking to buy something or compare products. You might want to go for some other keyword there like " Better shopping experience" or "How to shop smarter" or something like that. If the purpose is to get consumers to write a review of the products they like I dont think the name NichePage is going to clarify what the site is about although people in online marketing probably will.
I think the concept is great and the site design is very nice. Good luck
