What is your favorite wordpress theme and why?

I am a part time web developer and I have recently decided that I want to build a solid wordpress theme that I can use for myself and potentially to give away or sell later down the line. So I would like some opinions about some warriors favorite themes and what made those particular themes better than others.

To answer maybe use some of the following as guidelines:

-What sort of site where you using it on?
-What functionality made it your favorite?
-Is there any functionality that you would like to see in a wordpress theme that you havent seen before or maybe cost too much?
-Any other comments regarding that theme or wordpress in general

Thanks!

Adrian

I've been moving everything to Genesis, for obvious reasons. It's fast, good for SEO and just looks good out of the box. Plus all the child theme's for it these days.

Eleven40 child theme with Genesis Framework.

In my experience it's very well suited for display ads... although you wouldn't necessarily notice this just by looking at it.

I also like the Genesis Framework generally.

Can you provide a link of that video?
I'm just getting started with eleven40. I felt in love with genesis framework from the first moment

I don't want to get in trouble for posting a link. The video is some good reasons for using the child theme, doesn't get into customization. I can PM you the link if you want it.

As for customization, I just googled it, all kinds of sites, mostly blogs with easy to do customization ideas.

I have been using various themes from ElegantThemes. The price is rights and I really like the choice of themes they offer.

However, I recently started switching my sites to their Divi theme. It is very highly customizable and it looks/feels fresh and "in" at the moment.

I personally love the Genesis themeframe in combination with a child theme. Sometimes I use an existing child theme, other times I create one myself depending on my needs and wants, or the needs and wants of my clients.

The reason I use a themeframe is because it deals with most technical aspects of the theme while I can focus on the design part with the child theme. Plus, using a wildly known themeframe gives me the added bonus that not only I can find help and tutorials on their site, but also on sites by other users.

Seems the Genesis framework is a very popular choice. I can see why, I love the idea of a framework with child themes added on top. It makes so much more sense to do it that way.

I would say that it depends on your level of programming knowledge. The best FREE theme in my opinion is "Mystile" if you are comfortable with CSS you can get thattheme to look like just about any other for the most part, including Divi.

Divi is nice, but has its limitations. I have worked with it a little, and found the customization a bit of a hassle.

Genesis is well the top of the line anymore. If you are the programming type like myself, there are huge advantages in its use. The community has come a long way in the last 6 months to a year, that has made it a bit more "beginner" friendly.

Yes I definitely agree if you have programming knowledge the theme you choose is not that important as you can modify it as you require to get any look and functionality you want. I was more asking from the perspective of someone with no programming knowledge at all, what theme is the best
