How do you get part time Wordpress work as a newbie?

I have a full time job with a growing company as a Front End Wordpress Developer doing HTML and CSS with primarily Genesis themes, and some Photoshop. I have only been doing this since June. I have made a lot of progress, and feel more confident in my ability to do nice looking website redesigns, but I am having a hard time finding additional work.

I am limited to 40 hours a week at my job, and I must find additional work to pay the bills.

I feel I cannot compete on the freelance sites, because I am not competent in PHP yet, and am just new overall.

What have you all done to get additional work outside of a job, when you are just starting out?

  • I don't mean to be negative, but you might have trouble finding wordrpess work if your not knowledgeable with PHP. CCS is a huge plus, but usually customization requires PHP skills as well.

Sounds like want to stick with deigns for sure, if you really are good with CSS, you might be able to squeak by. Or if your good at finding solutions online you can implement. I know when I am tweaking my genesis or child related themes, I can usually find the php code online.

As mentioned, Fiverr might be a good place.

There is also the Warriors for hire section on this forum.
