I am a long time wannabe IM. I decided to take the plunge.

I have launched my first blog. I would like to get some feedback on the site from some experienced IM's.

My site: conquerwork.com

My goal is to focus on developing content and my audience first. Later on I will look for ways to monetize the site.

Any/all feedback on my site would be appreciated.

Thanks

    Not a bad start!

Is there any reason why you're incorporating a forum within the blog?

Your Opt-in form will definitely need working on. Take a look at what some of your competitors have and work on that. Then think about your call to action. Get insider email updates and tips! isn't really a reason for them to opt-in. You're not even mentioning about what the updates and tips would be about. It has to be in their favor is someone is going to take you up on it.

A suggestion for your contact us page. Why not get social? Ask them to like your page or add you a s friend directly, then they can send you messages. That social connection is going to help you build trust and authority.

Thanks for reviewing my site and providing feedback!

I decided to add a forum option in the hopes that over time I could develop a community of contributors that would generate content and create a sense of community.

On the email opt in I wanted to go ahead and get something started based on the advice I had read to get the email list started early on. I definitely have work to do there. At this time I don't have anything to give away for joining. I will work on it.

I will add some social aspects to the contacts page

      Thanks again !

Not a bad start. I'd take on board what Steve said about the opt-in form and adding social media buttons to your website. It's a good Idea to update your blog regularly with fresh content, don't worry to much about the design for the moment. You can always improve the look as time goes by. Great blog title by the way.

    Wish you much success!

Have to agree with the opt-in box.. needs help. I might suggest developing a 10 best list type thing to offer for free for signing up. 1 thing that I do to increase opt-ins is have an optin box like you have ( but looks better ) and right below it have a graphic that states the free offer and links to a squeeze page to opt-in to the newsletter.

Again with the opt in, at the bottom of each post that option should be there. I would also add the social media share links at the bottom of each post as well. ( I would refrain from showing number of shares... that may actually work against you ) One other thing I see is missing is linking to further articles a the bottom. Pagination is an important aspect of site navigation.

        Savidge,
        Thanks for your input.

The opt in box i am currently using is a wordpress plug in. So it was easy to install but it looks pretty bad. I wil need to research how to make a better one. I really like the top 10 suggestion, that wont be too difficult to create.

I was able to use a share button to the posts from my theme settings but it does show how many have been shared. I guess the benefit of being able to share while I'm trying to grow outweights the downside of showing zero shares. so i went ahead and added it.

        I will play with pagination.

Thanks for your suggestios, they were very helpful.
