Hi all,

On Boostblogtraffic.com, as you scroll through the page, you'll see an image that says "How To Grow Your Blog To Six Figures" that follows you even while you're scrolling.

Any idea how that's done?

Tks!

This is a "Sticky sidebar". This is typically done with jQuery (JavaScript) and CSS. There are many ways to do it. Here is just one: Sticky-Kit | jQuery plugin for sticky elements.

Or it can be done with a sticky widget. With a widget, it's not your entire sidebar sticking. So you can highlight just one widget, like one with ads or what ever. Just a thought

Hi Ron, any specific one you know of that's good?

Actually, funny you ask. I was reading a blog about how a blogger increased their list and one way was to use a sticky widget, so the opt-in is always in the sidebar. Makes sense, because many bloggers write long posts, myself included, so there is always so much empty sidebar as readers scroll.

Anyways, the blogger recommended one and I tried it out:

        https://wordpress.org/plugins/q2w3-fixed-widget/

Very easy to use. Install and activate. After installed, all your widgets have a new check box, to make them sticky. So simple.

        Only thing I found though:
        • You need to put those sticky widget(s) at the bottom of your sidebar because other widgets get covered over by the sticky one.
        • If you make your top menu sticky, it covers the sticky widget(s) up a little. The plug-in comes with margin settings, which I had to set to 150px to get it down below my sticky menu.

No biggies though, works perfectly. I really like it. It's not 100% the perfect solution, but serves a purpose.

Maybe there is a better one, only one I've tried so far.
