Need Help Creating Online Course

I need help deciding which software/website solution to go with.

I'll upload the class as a video. It will have questions throughout it and a quiz at the end. People need to be able to start and stop at any time and save their progress. This will not be live.

Any suggestions?

It would also be ideal if it accepted payment but that is not a must.

Thanks

    Hey,

What I use is OptimizePress as a a software for delivering content to the end users, you can integrate with almost any popular payment system, create membership sites with different access levels and delayed content.

Video content, audio content, thank you pages, sales pages, you can create your funnel from A to Z with this tool and once you get familiar with it you can build funnels in matter of hours. That's why I love it.

I am really happy with it and to be honest, for what you get it is not expensive.

I do own OptimizePress and use it for one website but I did not realize it will allow me to add a timed course with required questions throughout the video and a quiz at the end.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

      It won't.

      What you need is Moodle.

It is free, and it will do all of what you want (and much, much more).

Be prepared to be overwhelmed with the options and the complexity. Don't let this dissuade you - it is the right tool for the job - but be prepared to tackle a steep learning curve.

Once you are over the hump, the world is your oyster.

I have not seen a training quite like the one your talking about. It sounds like Moodle is your choice. If the learning curve is steep you might consider a membership site with OptPress of even WP Page Builder.

The learning curve is enormously steep on Moodle and often you need an additional platform to use Moodle well. maybe not so much in a recorded environment, but you are still talking about a lot of custom programming.

I don't know if it would suit your purposes, but Derek Halpern who runs Social Triggers dot com, released a plugin called Zippy Courses; that might be worth checking out to see if it has the capabilities you are looking for.

Zippy Course looks like it may be the best solution to what I need today. I agree that Moodle may be ideal and provide better customizations but my schedule will not afford me the time needed to learn the system.

If anyone has better solutions, please let me know. The class is 4 hours with different segments. It is timed with short questions along the way to ensure they did not walk away. There will be a quiz at the end.

        Thanks!

Looks like a simple solution, but you might want to ask them about quizzes and tests. I see nothing about that on their web page.

If they do have that, you may want to consider whether it is important to you that each quiz/test be unique. And graded. And allow further access based on that grade.

At first glance, this does not look particularly sophisticated. Before you buy, you'll want to be sure it does what you need it to do.

I did ask them about quizzes. You cannot insert quizzes in the middle of a session but you can at the end of each session (or break a session into parts).

Support has been very fast to reply as I have sent about 6 emails today. Also found out that they are releasing an update this week that will integrate Authorize.net. Was hoping for Cart66 but not yet.

They have a 30-day refund so that is good.

I'll reiterate this one point, then let it go.

Is it important for you to make sure each quiz is unique (for each student), graded, and used as the prerequisite for moving on?

On the question of uniqueness, is there any chance that any two students will know each other? If so, it is all but guaranteed you will get collaborators and that will dilute the value of your course.

If this software will pull from a pool of questions, randomize the order of those questions, and even randomize the order of the answers on multiple choice questions, all per each unique instance of the quiz, then you will have something with great integrity.

Anything less than that, and you will get yourself stuck in a software you will grow to resent for its limitations.

I have no axe to grind against these guys. But I have been in a situation where I took the easy way out and lived to regret it. It is much harder to course correct when you already have hundreds or thousands of students stuck in a legacy application.

Much better to do it right the first time.

Whatever you choose to do, I wish you all the best with it.

This is a great point, but for our use, each exam will be the same. I do agree that people can copy answers as there will be multiple people in the same company that take the test.

This class is a re-certification exam for a US regulation. The exam is very easy to past and few fail. The whole point in the exam is to serve as proof that they attended the class and didn't hit play and walk away and say that they watched it. Very basic stuff - which is good for us.
