Hi

I am going to start a web design blog. I am planning to make it a robust blog. I need a lead gen system with aweber as well.

Overall, Please suggest best plugins needed to make it a perfect blog. I have just installed all in one seo and akismet already.

Regards
AB

  • I would install the following at least:

    Yoast SEO plugin
    Askimet
    Wordfence
    W3 Total cache

I would also consider installing a good "Coming Soon, " plugin that builds your list if the blog is not ready to launch just yet.
  • What is wordfence?

    • It's a Wordpress Security plugin that I have on my blog..

It has a free option available.

Run a Google search and see the features and reviews.

  • There are so many plugins but my top 3 favorites are...

    Fancy Pop up

    Change Admin Name

    Covert Conversation Pro.

You can see the last one in action on my main website. It is COOL.

    • It is awesome if you are going to publish template based content, has a bunch of options and is even for noobs with basic html skills simple to learn
  • I just started a website with income based on affiliate marketing. I use the plugin thirsty affiliates which changes your affiliate link to something shorter and not obvious that you're using it to make money. It also saves all the links you use so you can reuse them without setting them up again.
  • I can't do without the below plugins:

    AIOSEOP
    Contact Form 7
    Disable Comments
    External links
    Special Recent Posts

  • Hi AB,

You're getting good suggestions I'd add to lean out your plug-ins collection down to stuff that you need. For example, as you get clearer on why you're blogging you'll likely use fewer and fewer plug ins, because almost all of us have fat to trim, to create a lean, mean, quick-loading blog machine.

I have no more than 10 plug-ins running at any time because I keep my blog light, and fast-loading. I also have a few core functions I want my plug ins to do, because I've a few set, core calls to action for my readers to take.

All the best with your blog!

  • I always make sure to install these plugins on a new wordpress website

    Akismet
a SEO plugin (I use Yoast, but there are many others)
contact form (very important to have one!)
a plugin for social media sharing (I use the Simple Share, but there are a ton of other social plugins, pick on you like)

    • Like most have already said, WordPress SEO by Yoast is a must, and would actually replace the need for some of the other plugins mentioned here.

Also Yoast's Google Analytics plugin makes professionally setting up your GA very easy - even complicated tracking that would normally require you to mess about with code.

I'd also put in a vote for OptinMonster - it's expensive, but it works for lead gen!

  • My favorite:

    Contact Form 7
    Google Analytics Dashboard for WP
    WordPress SEO by Yoast
W3 Total Cache or WP Fastest Cache (if W3 Total not compatible with theme)
    TinyMCE Advanced
    upPrev
    Ad Inserter
  • Don't forget these:

-Shareaholic (makes it easy for your readers to share your content) https://wordpress.org/plugins/shareaholic/

-Yet Another Related Post (keeps your readers engaged by presenting them with other related posts) https://wordpress.org/plugins/yet-an...-posts-plugin/

    - Better File Editor (makes it super easy to make changes to your CSS file from within your Wordpress dashboard) https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-file-editor/

    - Fancier Author Box (will automatically display an author box below your blog posts - great to brand yourself) https://wordpress.org/plugins/fancier-author-box/

    • Hey AB,
For a WP Blog I would make sure you have WP Opitns 2.0

It is very reasonably priced and gives you solid sq. page templates to use with ease
