Hi,

We have a very strange redirect issue on our site. The analytics stats say that the user has come and viewed our page www.ourdomain.co.uk/about/www.ourdomain.co.uk

In summary:
  • /www.ourdomain.co.uk is coming up after everything
  • Webmaster Tools doesn't seem to recognise it.
  • When we click it to see what the page looks like, it shows a 404 each time.

Does anyone know how to resolve this or even, what it is?

Help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Michael.

Chances are that you have entered a full address in a dialog box somewhere in the dashboard of a cms like wordpress. Unfortunately php is already generating the first part of the address for you and you were only supposed to add the end of the url. I have had something similar happen with css I got from webkits when installing fonts and I had to truncate the url in the css so it didn't do this.

Back-up to previous versions of the site or start again if the site design is faulty.

Could be as simple as some one typing it in wrong in their browser. Bad copy and paste. Could be a bad link somewhere out on the net, people are clicking on.

Do you where it's coming from? Stats should tell you the source.

Is it a one time hit, or multiple hits?
