What is the best Ecommerce CMS?

I am looking to update my website bottlemeamessage.com to a new easy to use CMS system.

Its a very customizable product but need a simple preferably open source php and Mysql database based cms?

I have tried prestashop, opencart, and am not sure which will give me the easiest conversion from my old site based on php and mysql but custom coded but not by me.

Thank you.

  • Your best bet is to start with Wordpress for now.

If and when you get to the point of needing a more robust framework you can migrate to Magento.

Magento is expensive to maintain/administrate so the website has to be bringing enough income.
  • Wordpress should be more than sufficient in the beginning unless you are growing rapidly then you can move on to other platforms if you require extremely complex website elements.

  • Best ecommerce CMS is the one you paid for. I mean custom solutions, not anything an average Joe can download from the Net, wrap it with a $45 theme and a dozen plugins. There are a lot of opinions, but unless you have a budget for a customized product - you can't enter e-commerce. It's not like starting a blog. Seriously.

    • That's just simply not true. WooCommerce, Magento and many other Open Source eCom CMS out there that many are using to make a lot of money! One word about Magento, unless you go with a dedicated server, you will probably have problems. It's a resource hog.

  • Hi,
I would suggest you to use Magento for your Ecommerce website. In magento there are massive number of smart tools that are help you to grow your customer pool.
  • In case of small and medium sized businesses, WooCommerce seems to be the best fit. However, if you have a big budget and have definite plans to sell thousands of products, then go for Magento Community Edition or Enterprise Edition.
