Mobile website Loads Faster in iFrame.. Why?

I have a Mobile website. I wanted to add a direct link to an external mobile website through a clickable link, but found the loading time to be 10 - 20 seconds, which is way too slow.

So I tried placing the external website inside of one of the pages in my mobile site by using an iFrame. The loading time of the external site is now only 3 - 5 seconds ... Fantastic!

But would prefer to just have used a clickable link.

So why the big difference in loading times? ... It's got me beat?

Anyone have any ideas why this should happen?

    perhaps the external website detected your iframe as a mobile device; then it enables the mobile version, then some resources are not loaded => loading faster
