I want to create a website to review hotels in my locality (a lot like Yelp), that have:
* A rating system
* User review option
* And categorize according to certain area's

I had a Wordpress website in the past, so I would like to create it with WP (if you have any better suggestion please mention)

Before starting this project I would like to make a list about essential things to know and organize it step by step. I already purchased a domain. I have no experience in coding and things like that.

I don't want to spend lot of money in the initial stage, but I could afford some.

I hope you guys will help me.

    It's unclear what kind of help are you looking for. Are you looking for a developer that will help you and you'll pay? Or are you looking for free help?
    Sounds like you don't even know what you want if you're looking for "a list about essential things to know and organize".

      I want to create it myself, I want to know which platform should I use to create this website, (I heard that there are a lot of forum software's like vBulletin, is there anything like that for creating a review website)

      And where to find cheap themes, etc...

      I am not asking for any free help, I am just asking for your suggestions and advice.

    First of all, I hope that you live in a large city chalk full of tourism. That's were this site would probably work best.

    Secondly, if you're planning on creating business around this I'd create a short business plan. Cover such things such as: expenses, pricing structure, marketing strategies, target audience, your sales funnel, USP, etc..

    That will help you get a better idea of your vision and the steps that you need to take. Good Luck!

    There's quite a few easy solutions you could use and it wouldn't cost too much.. like the others I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for; someone to get it all up and running for you for free?

    I guess what I'm unclear of is: what's your budget? & what do you plan on spending the money on because I could show you how to set it up (i.e. what to use to make it easy and professional) or I could actually set it up for you but then again that depends on your budget or what you personally want to do.

    If you can't offer much in the sense you can develop your website like yelp by getting Clone Scripts of Yelp. It's cost less & requires less time to develop a site. Word press is the best option. Once if your website is developed you can go for digital marketing services & building mobile apps.

    Website: if you are lucky enough to know a teenage kid and/or techie friend who does HTML + CSS and you can trust them "farther" than you can throw them, they could probably build you a site like yelp for $75 - 100 per page. I think that's fair - half up front, then half when they deliver. And they should have examples of what they can do...if not, give 'em $75 and see what they can do with one page. Total cost: $350 - 750 If it about APP dev. That depends a lot on who's your software development service partner. Here's a little breakdown on costs:

    India and Pakistan charge 10-15/hour,
    Eastern Europe $30-40/hour,
    Western Europe $40-60,
    something between $120 and $160 for onshore US companies. More interesting: How to Develop an app Like Yelp?

    I would recommend Appthemes Vantage for a directory website. I worked with their Classipress theme in the past (they are quite similar; legacy code used Classipress for classified ads and Sabai for a directory, but I'd switch to Vantage if I could) and it is pretty good in terms of functionality, definitely not the worst if you need custom development.
    You'd want a custom responsive template for it though.
