I'm thinking about getting a Web design business focusing on building wordpress websites. It looks like I can get a bundle of themes from elegant themes for a reasonable price. Do you guys know of any other places to find themes? Theme forest is good but their pricing for the extended licences are really high... I'm also trying to figure out the pricing structure if I'm just editing a theme and adding content. I don't want to over or under charge. What do you guys think a good price point would be?

I think the sweet spot for a premium theme is around the $40-$50 mark.

Keep in mind that the extended licences on Themeforest do vary quite a bit, so look around.

Considering how much I would be paying for a premium theme on theme forest or through elegant themes, what would be a good price point for my customers? Also, if I buy the developer package through elegant themes would I be allowed to resell the themes for profit?

Would not be better to use a software like for instance Artisteer and since you are aiming for Wordpress then it wont be to many problems considering there are tons of wp plugins that can manipulate your theme in various ways?
If a client wants a specific theme and if he can provide a website that he likes the theme of; and also if its Wordpress based you can go to the website WordPress Theme Detector - Free online tool to find a siteĀ“s theme to can see everything(almost) about that website ... its plugins, theme and such
As an added value you can offer a full pack like: website design, logo design, hosting ... all in 1 big pack ... so that the client not go to anyone else but have everything from the same company

I would recommend getting Elegant themes, the "Lifetime" membership for like $89 I think. You will get access to a lot of themes. The Divi theme will more than pay for that by itself, easy to use and master. You will have to get other themes from theme forest, if you are running a business though.

I ended up going with elegant themes. I'm going to start off by trying to focus in service base businesses such as tree trimmers, movers, and other services. Do any of you have experience offering web design to these types of clients?

I normally design custom sites but I think I will also move into just customizing themes. I've never worked with movers and tree trimmers but it is a great idea to focus on service based businesses. I recently was paid $500 to customize a theme for a psychologist and one for a venture capital firm. You could charge way more than that. Offer extras like hosting...join a reseller program with a host company .

Also try partnering with designers and marketers so that you can create a package deal with logo, business cards and marketing.

That's a pretty high price point considering how much I'm getting the themes for through elegant. What kind of customization did you do? Other than people I know, what would be the best way to start getting clients?

I think most people demands custom unique design. If you are thinking to team up with designers and developers then let me know i have a offer for you. As far as pre-built designs then nobody is close to themeforest because they covers all the niches that you can think of.
