    yes you can do it easily in two type
    1.usign via backend
    2.Using database

    2.Using database

    Go to phpmyadmin -> database -> find the table name in wp_user

    Now click to edit button , you can find user name field -> edit here what you want .

    You need to do it from database

    go to phpmyadmin - > your database - > wp_users

    Select your user and change the name
    other wise yes you can create a new user give him admin access and then delete the older account
