I'm sure somebody else will come up with something, but I have no idea why it would make any difference if you hosted with the same company or not. The only issue I can remember ever hearing is that if you registered with one company, then wanted to switch registrars (from Hostgator to Godaddy, for example), sometimes the original registrar will make it difficult to make the switch.

Yes, because if you do have 10 domains and hosting together,
it is a pain in the ass to move all domains to another place. :p

HomeBizNizz - What's the difference when it's time to change DNS info, whether your sites are with the registrar or somewhere else? If you change hosts, you still have to change the info for 10 sites. What am I missing?

I guess my question would be: Does anyone have any particular hosting companies that they would recommend other than Namecheap?

This way, I can keep the two seperate. There are so many hosting companies out there, I wasn't sure where to start and thought I would ask if anyone had any recommendations.

My first post. Coincidence? I have been searching the web all day reading reviews and trying to determine what hosting company would be best for me. Thank you all for the comments. I'm three months into learning about internet marketing and the learning curve is steep! I first made a simple (primitive?) website with google sites, but discovered it was somewhat restrictive and not really a hosting service. I then bought 1and1 with three domains (special offer). I haven't used it or the domains. I was going to use Wordpress for my second blog/webpage, but 1and1 doesn't support it. So, I started looking again. Looks like Hostgator is well thought of by many users. Anyhow, thanks for the comments.

There are so many hosting sites out there it is unreal to try to pick one. I found one which I was referred to where I pay only $30 per year for hosting, all in all its reasonable and I don't have to really do anything I just email the lady and tell her what I want and she is setting the stuff up. I just use filezilla for FTP but I have no clue what I'm really doing just yet lol. Let us know which one you find I'd love hosting reviews!

It's better to buy your domain in another company. Choose the cheapest domain seller and then change the name servers. That's all.

i prefer to use bluehost, coz they offer a lot of programs which easy to install to the server

for a simple personal site, I would go for the cheapest you can find.

I keep mine separate because I like namecheap's prices on registration but I like hostgator hosting and have no desire to move to someone else. Prices seem comparable across the board for hosting, and since they do everything I need, I will stay there.

For reasons mentioned its a good idea to keep them seperate besides most domain registrars don't make good hosts anyway. Its not their primary business. Let me save you some time searching aroung on Webhostingtalk. Hostgator is the best known host with the best reputation. There are of course others but if you don't want windows hosting and don't have any exotic needs they should do fine.

I have a domain with UK2.net and free hosting with 000.webhost. Cost just over £5 for two years!

We recommend our clients register their domain names with a registrar such as GoDaddy, setup their email accounts and email aliases there, and host the site elsewhere. If you decide to move the site at a later date, you won't have to reconfigure all of your email accounts. In order for this to work, you will have to use the DNS nameservers at your registrar and find a hosting company that provides IP addresses for your site. Some will, some won't, so be sure to ask.

I host all of my sites with HostGator. They are fast and I never have any problems with my sites there.

I've tried several other host and HostGator is the best I've ever had.

I use 1and1.com for my domains because there price competative and I like the fact they give privacy guard for free and the give 5 domain extensions for free for each domain you buy.

I use websiteapproved.com for all my hosting but I don't buy their domains.

So I like to buy my domains one place and my hosting at another
