Best Way to Deliver Large Files for Download?

Hi all,

Below,I have a PLR digital product that consists of 15 individual .zip files totaling nearly 600 mb's.

I created a 'new folder' on my desktop, drag n' dropped the above zip files into it, then compressed the 'new folder' into a zip file, named it "product X" and uploaded it to my servers.

However, upon testing the "download link" on my site... it takes forever, and even with high speed connection, it will often fail to download.

What is the best way to keep the files organized for the customer, but allow them to house them under one folder after downloading?

I feel like I should know... but if I create say 5 download links instead of one download, How will the customer (beginner) keep their new content organized in one folder called "product X"?

    Possible Solution?

    Should I include "download instructions" whereby, they create a new folder (product name) and as they download the individual files, they can simply move them into "Product Name" main file?

    I feel like I am over-complicating this, but if a beginner buys the product, I really don't want to field a bunch of emails asking me "how to" reassemble the zip files into one folder.

    You could simply use a CDN like from Amazon. They offer great speed at very low cost

    While I have been aware of S3 and AWS services, I never personally used them. After visiting the link, it seems obvious why many marketers who deliver large training video files or sell digital downloads use them, but I'll be honest... It seems very complex in understanding what I actually need, just for basic upload and secure delivery of digital products?

    I'm guessing just a EC2 account, and S3 account & S3 Bucket...?

    Easy start, huh? (i'm a total technophobe, lol)

    I am assuming, anyone using any AWS must first create a EC2 account, then create a 'key', then create a S3 Bucket, and from there I guess it's just a matter of setting up "Who can access the download files?"

    AWS Glacier seems to be an 'archive' file storage, I'm guessing for dormant files rarely requested, or downloaded?

    Maybe, it's easier than I am making it out to be, but I was hoping just to simply upload my .zip file to my server, and direct 'buyers' to the 'download page'. However, I'm guessing the reason the download is taking so long has to do with me being on a sh!tty shared server (namely HostGator) perhaps?

    I have a lot to learn in the tech department, and until now... my expertise consisted of delivering an eBook or PDF file. Delivering multiple files (videos, graphics, action scripts, etc...) all in one sale is all new to me, so forgive my ignorance, as I'm sure this is a necessary step in advancing my IM experience.

    While I'm gonna set up an EC2 account now, and a S3 bucket, but I am a bit leery of the "language" they use (as it's all-Greek-to-me, so to speak) and appears far more advanced then my ability to comprehend what the hell it all means?

    Does the 'learning curve' ever end I wonder?

      That's definitely appears to be quick and painless option, one in which I've bookmarked for future reference...but if I were ever (so fortunate) to get bombarded by a horde of hungry buyers, I'd prefer to have the files delivered on autopilot, be it through my servers in a zip file as an instant download, via members area login, or through my AWeber autoresponder follow ups.

        Setting up delivery through Amazon S3 is really not that hard. It's just hard enough to generate business for some of us and easy enough that we don't have to struggle to do it ourselves. You can probably learn all you need AND set up your download links within 2 hours.

    or you can just send your buyers a simple text file with a link to your website
    where they can download the files either individually or RARed.

    make it a private site that only your buyers get access to.

      Private site? - I am assuming you mean password protected access, as in; make it a members only site?

      It seems I have some homework to do, as I really need to start using my Optimize Press Membership Plugin! (*Haven't opened it since last year, at the time it was really quirky, and bug riddled...seems they've sorted much of the kinks out from what I've been reading.)

      The other, will be getting an S3 bucket set up. I'm gonna attempt doing that right now!

    You could always do something like a free dropbox account.

    Just send an email with the unique link, and change it every once in a while.

    The better solution would be to utilize your membership plugin and figure out why you are having that download speed issue. If it is a server problem, maybe you need a better host.
