WordPress Frameworks and Builders

In my quest to create a custom WordPress theme I came across this free WP "Framework" called Unyson

does anyone have experience with it or can recommend a better solution?

Also, regarding "Builders" has anyone had a play with Envato's new builder called "Layers WP"?

  • My way is simple and totally free: choose a simplest Wordpress theme and go to Plugins -> Install, type "Page Builder" and you will see some FREE tool to create your website.

    • Thanks for your "builder" search suggestion, but I was looking for specific suggestions or feedback on the framework and the builder mentioned.

      The framework to build a new theme, the builder is for an existing theme and possibly to add to the new theme.

      I can search all day, but feedback from experienced users typically helps shorten the research time and help with the decisions.

    I have not heard of Unyson. I would give Underscores (_s) a try. It's built by Automattic, the people behind WordPress.com, and lots of WP plugins. If you truly wish to build your own theme, the Underscores (_s) starter theme is a great place to start. If you have trouble, or need additional help, there is an online course at lynda.com, and plenty of information online to help you out.

  • You can use templatetoaster to build a new theme. It is a Wordpress theme generator, you can easily design fully responsive high quality themes. You may try this.
