I'm going to do a study and I need your help.

There are many web hosting providers out there.

iPage,
WPengine,
Hostgator,
Bluehost,
Web.com
Justhost,
Inmotion hosting,
Dreamhost,
Hostnine,
Network Solutions,
interserver web hosting

I have experiences with iPage.

Please share your experiences about your hosting provider..

I really appreciate that.

Godaddy is awesome! Almost no downtime. And they're cheap too. I think they're having a special right now where you get a year's worth of hosting for about $1 per month.

The person who created this thread specifically said they have problems with GoDaddy - why would you recommend the SAME host they are having problems with?

Seems like Warrior Forum is going down hill....again.

Wikipedia have removed the brands in EIG group.

Among above list, ipage, Bluehost, Justhost, Hostgator, Dreamhost, and Fatcow are in EIG group.

But, WordPress recommends Bluehost and Dreamhost.

Still, I can't find a clear answer to "Why we should avoid from EIG group". Can you explain that to me. I really appreciate that.

Actually you shouldn't necessarily avoid the EIG group brands. Keep in mind that these companies had their own equipment and systems when they were bought out. A merge on paper doesn't equate to all companies magically operating the same. They still have much of their strengths and weaknesses, so shop accordingly.

The results I see on this chart do not reflect the speeds I see when working on various customer sites. You need to look at charts on sites that have detailed descriptions of their comparison methodology, read through it carefully and then look on the charts for companies that match your criteria. In particular I find the recommendations at Wordpress. org are no longer valid.

This is because EIG and Godaddy paid big money to get ranked. It's not an unbiased list.

I wish there was an unbiased review somewhere but I doubt you'll find one.

I have had a Hostnine resellers account for a few years now with decent support and no really serious issues. They don't advertise it but with a resellers account you can setup sites on servers in multiple locations which enables you to have very different ip addresses for every site you build. A really good feature for marketers.

Depends what you're gonna use it for, and the amount of traffic you'll be getting.

I have used HostGator shared hosting for small projects for years, and Linode and mainly DigitalOcean for larger VPS projects.

Have dealt with HostGator support several times, and while they are quick to help over the phone, their email support was real slow when I last had dealings with them. Overall good customer support. Great prices as well.

I hold domains and use hosting with namecheap for more than 2 years, so far so good nothing to complain, the live chat support is good, never tried email. Around 99% uptime, very rarely few minutes to 1 to 2 hours downtime but that is like 1 time in half year. I tried godady before and I would ssay namecheap is better in general. Never tried others.

A person or business heir think about hosting whenever he think to start an online store or an e-commerce business. I just like to suggest you that Godaddy is the best website to buy the domain and also for the better-hosting provider, it provides a good service in the reasonable price.

GoDaddy have been a hassle for me sometimes. However, their Microsoft hosting is pretty good and I've been able to run an impressive amount of stuff on a basic hosting account.

I would always recommend having at least two hosting accounts as both GoDaddy and Hostgator have let me down bigtime on occasions, but with two accounts if one screws up at least my entire online empire doesn't disappear.

I can recommend Webhostface it is quite nice and the prices are very reasonable, but the best thing about this provider is the support! The guys out there can help you with almost ANYTHING. Even off topic This is really the best option I have tried so far.
And while we're at it, I can also suggest a tool to transfer the site to a new hosting - cms2cms is a good content migration service.

Among above mentioned I'd recommend Bluehost. I have taken web hosting services from Bluehost India and their server speed is really very good. Another one You can go for BigRock, hostgrator. They are also good with reasonable cost and good server up time.

I personally use weebly because of the simplicity, I think it was more expensive than GoDaddy when I purchased it but considering the amount of time I saved with their drag and drop principle it's worth every penny, they provide some integrated tools so l also saved money on that side because I didn't have to hire freelancers to do the coding and etc.

I have Hostgator for about 3 months now, but I'm starting to wonder if I made a mistake. I went with them because a lot of people recommend them. But, the server response time is really slow. And now I'm finding out that this is normal for Hostgator. I don't know why I never saw anybody mentioning that before.

I have used their live chat help a few times and it can sometimes take a while. A couple of times it took over an hour to resolve the issue that I was having. I went with the baby plan and it costs me $9.95/month, and yet if you go look at the cost right now it is $8.96/month for the baby plan. So they're charging me an extra dollar a month for some reason.

Even though Hostgator and Bluehost are owned by the same parent company, for some reason Bluehost has a better server response time according to this guy's tests:

Back at his website he recommends Inmotion hosting and Blue Host as the best shared hosting for WordPress:

The Best Shared Hosting Companies for WordPress

Would be nice to know if he tested the server response time for all of those on the list. I've never heard of Inmotion Hosting. A lot more people seem to recommend Bluehost including Wordpress, but then again a lot of people recommended Hostgator also. So who knows.

Because the majority "recommending" are affiliates & somewhere down the line, you'll end up clicking a "review" site posted, just like the one you linked to.

Just so you're aware - BlueHost, HostGator, JustHost, Hostmonster & 50+ other brands are all the same company, same network, same datacenter, same servers, same support. That video is also well over a year old.

    Good point.

just like the one you linked to.
Are you sure he's an affiliate? I didn't see any affiliate links. I just thought there might be something to what he was saying since he claims to have analyzed them both even though they're both owned by the same parent company. They could be using different servers. Although, like you said, the video is a year old, I didn't catch that when I was watching it.

How difficult is it to switch hosts? Maybe I should just jump around from one to another until I find one that I like.

Yea, they're affiliates. Click it, then check your cookie history. Switching is not hard, any decent host would be able to help you. Being paid to promote is not a bad thing - but when you have masses of "fake" reviews to simply gain commissions, that's when there's a problem. For example, lots of complaints, but strangely, "review" sites always have glowing reviews...put 2 & 2 together.

recently i have switched from blue host to Cloudways i heard cloud hosting is getting very popular day by day and plus point is everything is very much customized like my website load time was like around 4 sec but now it's 1.5sec with free SSL certificate so i'm just loving it they have like 1 month trail program for free :p you should try it once as well

I often think why cloudways hosting is not mentioned when it comes to the best hosting providers threads on many different forums, Even though its the best managed cloud hosting platform they use advanced caching features and free SSL certificate and HTTP2 protocol which reduces the number of file request and much more!

My experience is using more than one hundred hosts. And the resume is that I would not recommend a half of the hosts in your list.

For the other half I'd say you need to see if you really need the service for the money. E.g. WP Engine is fully managed WP host and it's good in its segment, but this is not in the same line as other hosts.

Thus, from your lists, I'd go with WP Engine (if you have anough mone in the pocket) or with InMotion. However, for more budget options I there are other great hosts that you can pay attention to. E.g. GeekStorage, MDD hosting, VeeroTech, HawkHost, StableHost and some others.

I've been monitoring a dozen of hosts every minute for several months and can say that the hosts are different. And sometimes you need to reasearch deeper to consider the hosts which are not in the top 10 hosts list you can find on every corner of the Internet (hint: your list is a sort of this kind).

  • Hi Jasonmills,

I used Hostgator for years and only promoted them. However, this year I started getting serious about making money online and started driving a lot of traffic to two of my websites. Hostgator blocked all of my sites. I took them days to answer my tickets, years ago it only took them a few hours to help me.

I just switched to Inmotion Hosting and I feel that they are the best webhosting company on the planet! Not only do I have unlimited space and freedom to send as much traffic as I like, their customer service is extremely responsive and helps me with clear step-by-step directions. They also answer my questions in a friendly way and within a few hours, so I'll stick with them.

    Hi
I use Siteground - servers and connection stable, incredible 24 hour tech support. Also excellent hacker alters and malware monitoring services.

Hostgator is okay only if you have a static IP address. If you don't avoid them because you'll be continually contacting their support to give your latest IP address and then have to wait 2 hours until they unlock the IP address. (Tried them with a client's websites and had to recommend transferring to a different provider because I was to manage the websites and my IP address changes every time I connect online).

Bluehost - had a friend who used them and they were not optimal - charged like wounded bulls for stuff that should have been free.

Go Daddy - have used them however their platform can be a nightmare to use, especially if you want to transfer your websites to another provider down the track.

Just Host - reasonable, however, had to set up different accounts because one of my sites received around 500 visitors each day and this overloaded things. Also ensure you provide a totally different email to receive their notifications because if they want to suspend your account they do so immediately and send the email second and if to the same as the domain you don't receive the email.

    Hope this assists.

There're many big guys in hosting industry that you can rely on, however according to me, there're 3 big guys that I usually use to host number of websites on them. 3 of them are Godaddy, iPage and Namecheap

With Godaddy, I usually get big discounts via email, the most percent discount I've got are 30% off and 25% off on new orders. More, they have a very professional and comfortable control panel that can help me much in my domain management. It's very easy to transfer or renew when I need to do. When my domains get expiring, I've always get notification by them, that's very good. For their coupons, you can visit here to get Godaddy coupon for hosting just only for $1/month + free domain latest.

With iPage, currently they're offering the coupon with a huge discount up to 83% off on hosting, I think that they're one of the cheapest hosting now. Their support also good and fast. The hosting features are good too, with some unlimited resources such as disk space, bandwidth,...

With Namecheap, they have a very good and friendly support team that can help you almost instantly, I've contact them many times and each time was let me very happy and rate them 5 stars in supporting. Namecheap also give monthly coupons that can help you save 10% on domain purchasing and save 25% off on your hosting, VPS purchasing.

So I would like to recommend 3 hosting providers above to you. I hope this helps.

    Good luck to you!

1st: I'm sure it's been said, but I wasn't feeling patient enough to read every one of the prior comments (being honest) - but ALMOST ALL of the providers you mentioned are EIG, therefore rendering them complete trash....

That leaves 3 remaining: Network Solutions is horrible - just as bad as EIG if not worse - toss them in the circular file with the the EIG subsidiaries, and while we're at it lets just proactively toss GoDaddy, One.com and 1and1, in there too (they weren't mentioned, but they're as horrendous as EIG)

The 2 Hosts left standing from your lineup:

WPengine is PHENOMINAL if you have a WP based site and get a decent to large amount of traffic - Love their platform....However, if you're a small site or a noob, it's WAY overkill and you'd be overpaying....anyone else though, especially if you were graduating from shared to managed anyway - awesome choice..

Inmotion: Really Good for shared hosting and they they are the creators of BoldGrid, which is really cool (its a website builder built on top of wordpress, so it can basically let a noob design legit WP sites that look and function like something a pro did, and you're not locked into a proprietary platform) - plus very reliable and reasonable rates

Personal Fave: A2 Hosting (not listed) - REALLY awesome hosting, best support i've had from any host i've been with (and trust me, I've been around the block) really good prices for what they give, not one single hiccup with them in over 2 years, Fast Reliable...I could go on, but I don't want to be accused of promoting again haha (despite the absence of an affiliate link???? )

    Anyway that's my 2 cents

I use Hostgator. The technical support is OK - but you have to wait a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time (through the chat tool and online) before you reach anyone.

Also, when I started 2 years ago, my monthly payment was about $15 - now it is almost $25. I don't remember any reason for the increase.

They also can get into your Wordpress accounts - I'm not sure if I am totally OK with this - but I suppose it is the nature of the beast.
