(I'm using Wordpress)
I have seen websites in my niche that have affiliate links in the form of a picture in the right or left column of the page (beside the article). I would like to put one in the right column under my list of recent posts. But, I would like to have a different product showing for each category, so that all the articles in a category show the same product which is relevant to that category.

Is there some way I can do this?

Would you use a widget for this? If so which one? And how would you get a different affiliate picture/link showing for each category?

Thanks

You need to use the text widget and add your image and link there...also there is "Image Widget" plugin that does that for you automatically.

Yeah, but if I did that, wouldn't the widget show the pic/link on every page? How do you get it to show a different pic/link for each category?

You might take a look at content aware plugins. I have not used one and can't give you an recommendations.

Another way would be to create a side bar for each category. Unless you have a ton of categories. That way you can craft a side bar exactly as you want for each category. I use Simple Sidebars plugin and it works very well. Perfect for targeting your advertising as well.

I didn't know you could create a sidebar for each category. Anybody know how to do that in Wordpress?

Well, it wouldn't be for each category. It would be for any post or page. I don't think you can do it for categories as they are not a post or page. There is no option for sidebars in the categories section.

But you create sidebars for a category or niche, and assign them to your pages or posts.

Sorry, I did not make it clear.
