A Few Questions About Getting A Custom WordPress Theme Built

Hey Guys,

For the last while I have been thinking about getting a custom theme designed for my website. I have a few design ideas in mind but I am not really too sure of a few things.

1. What things should I ask for when having a theme designed. I just really know:
  • what I want the theme to LOOK like
  • I want it to be mobile friendly (HTML5?)
  • what else should I make sure I request? I was thinking of asking them to build it on the Genesis theme framework...
2. Where should I go to get it designed, like who?
3. How much would I be looking to pay for sch a thing? haha

I would really appreciate any and all answers to my questions!

    Hi Martie,

Great questions! You sound like you are on the right track. This guide outlines some great techniques and questions to ask a web designer: Find a great web developer

    HTML 5
    Mobile Responsive
    Shema.org ready
    Conversion optimized
    Secure
    Clean code

Those are just a few things you want to ask. I do build WordPress websites for a living, so feel free to get in touch, would love to help you out.

    Good luck!

You can give reference to some websites you really. If a website is not responsive (mobile friendly), it is useless.

You may also buy a commercial theme like avada or divi and design your website using page builders.

I just put this out for public beta release: Bio Ship | wordpress theme framework
not sure if it's what you're looking for but it does tick most of your boxes,

i created it so I could focus on the design and build upon it knowing all the
under-the-hood theme stuff was consistently sorted between sites.

there are a few more features in the works already, welcome any feedback.
