Uploading a home page. Too late ?

Can anyone please help, I know the answer will be pretty simple to any experts but to a newbie it's driving me nuts.
I uploaded a review page to www.justthinkof.com/guitarcoursereview and intend to use the same site ie justthinkof.com to add more reviews. Now I can't for the life of me work out how to add a simple home page to act as my main intro/directory.
I created the guitar course review folder in cpanel and uploaded using filezilla.
So what should I be uploading my main front page to, to get it to show. Or should I have done the home page first then added a sub folders later?

I hope you know what I mean.
Please help if you can
Thanks
BrianPat

You'll need to create a file named either "index.html" or "index.htm" or "index.php" (your choice; choose one and only one)

Create this page and add the content to make it your main intro/directory page. Then upload this file using Filezilla into the "public_html" directory (assuming you have one of those)

So basically upload this "index.[...]" file before the "guitarcoursereview" folder that you created.

So basically, when you go into Filezilla you should see the folders:

Upload the file directly to this directory (ignore that second "public_html" folder; am not sure why that's there)

Thankyou very much for that Tristan. I will get on it right now. Yeah I agree the second "public_html" folder is confusing. In fact when I look at all the junk in the cpanel I haven't a clue what I'm looking at !
      Right I will report back.
      Thanks again

You're welcome Let us know how you get on. It's tricky and first but easy once you do it a couple of times.

If you have FileZilla set up correctly - and you do, since you're able to upload files with it - you don't need to mess with cpanel at all. To me, cpanel is too slow and less intuitive.

Your default remote directory in FZ will show as /public_html/, unless you set it up to go directly to your review folder. In that case, it will show as /public_html/guitarcoursereview. You can use FZ to create new folders, and to navigate around your site.

Look on the right side of the FZ interface. This is the Remote Site section. You'll see an area with column headers of Filename, Filesize, Filetype, etc. In this area, you'll see at least one folder at the top of the list. It has no name, but has 2 dots ( .. ) next to it. Double-click this folder and you'll move up one level in your site hierarchy. Right-click it and you'll get a menu, with various options, including Create Directory.

It's much more direct, as well as much faster than cpanel.

Thanks for that Aronya, Thats great. I thought it was just me not getting on with cpanel. You have been very helpful. This is really a great forum.

Got there At last. Many thanks to all.
There were too many public-html folders and it was confusing me, which isn't difficult !lol
Just thrown a simple word doc up there for now, to prove to me it worked.

      So once again thanks all.
