Questions about creating WordPress Home and About Pages

Hello All,
I have uploaded a Hostgator hosted WordPress Site and I am trying to create some pages. I have the latest version of WordPress. I have never created a WordPress site before (so this is great experience for me ). I am trying to set up Home and About pages--both featuring a photo of myself on the left hand side, a middle section for some information, and a small section on the right hand side for my phone/ email contact info. (the contact info can be in a small square border). Any suggestions as to the right template/ plugins and upload techniques will be greatly appreciated !

    Most themes can handle this, have you tried using the default theme and playing around with it?
    If you want to have a photo on the left hand side, you would click on the add media button (when editing the page), upload the image and select Left in the Alignment section of the Attachment Details, which comes up when you upload the image.

    jbyte is right, almost every available pre-made wp theme has the blocks you're looking for already available all you have to do is pick the right pages or posts for the "blocks" you mention above and then add the right information on each page/post for the "block" you want to show.

    You can hire a WP expert like myself to take care of that for you but that might be overkill if you know how to create pages/posts on WP and then link them to the theme by settings.
