Help with inserting code in WSO please?

I already asked at the help desk here and was told to use BB Code which I thought I already had done because I used the editor within the posting box...this one <> and clicked on that symbol after highlighting the code from e-junkie which was to my payment button for my downloadable product.

Can someone take a peek at what I did to see how to fix it please? Right now a box appears with the code inside of it instead of the payment button appearing.

  • Hi, Laura. The HTML code button in the edit box has a different meaning than what you thought. It's for embedding readable HTML code inside a post. It doesn't make that HTML code active. There's no way within a BB Code post to make HTML active.

    So what you have to do instead is to translate the HTML into BB Code. The guide for a linked image is here.

    Following that example, which means eliminating the target, border and alt properties (which aren't essential to making the link work), will give the result you want.

    I'd give you the exact code here, but the forum software won't let me. So I'm attaching it as a small text file.

    Substitute the contents of the text file for that entire portion of your WSO post, including the surrounding BB Code tags for HTML that were inserted when you used the HTML button. That should do it.

      You can include BB code in your messages if you use the noparse BB tag

      Example using the code and noparse tags:

      Example using only the noparse tag:
      [url="https://www.e-junkie.com/"] [img]http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/x-click-butcc.gif[/img] [/url]

    You and warriors like you, willing to share your knowledge is what makes this forum such a wonderful place for others to learn. We can't be good at all things and anything to do with code typically messes me up as I know just enough to get myself into trouble with it

      I'd like to point out, for anyone else who may be watching, that your original post is a model for asking for help here. It's clearly stated, it uses the word "please" (twice!), and it mentions what you've already done to try to find a solution.

      If every post asking for help followed that model, I predict that people here would be even more willing to respond.
