Hello,

I have a Domain Name with GoDaddy and Hosting with HostGator. I have been following a tutorial to help me set up WordPress but am experiencing some difficulty:

Everything is ok until I get to 10:15, when I try to log into the recently installed WordPress (by pressing the "Admin Login" button). Instead of getting to the WP login page, I am takem to a GoDaddy portal and when I log in to that, am prompted to buy more hosting.

I was under the assumption that the Domain Name had already been connected to HostGator's hosting when I signed up. Can someone please help me with this?

With a brand new domain name it sometimes takes a couple of days to propagate and show up on the servers. Be patient, it will soon happen.

  • Double check your domain name nameservers to make sure they are using HG and not GD nameservers. Just go to whois.net and type in your domain name to get that info. Check with HG support to determine what the nameservers should be.

You can also login to Godaddy and select domains. You will be able to view/change the nameservers there.
