Miscommunication about domain

I have this old domain that I no longer use. But I pay hosting on it. Maybe I'm not saying this right or maybe I'm having a hard time understanding this but I figured I'd ask on here because I've emailed my hosting provider a few times about it and I don't think we're on the same page.

So here it goes:

I have an old domain name lets call it "A" I do not use this website, matter of fact I have the domain name for sale. The domain name is bought thru "name cheap" but I do hosting with another company. I do not want to pay hosting for this "website." However, I do have another domain name that I would like to have hosted in this ones place. The 2 domain names are nothing alike, and I've decided to go a different direction, which is the reason for the new domain name.

Here's where I get confused: My hosting company is telling me to use the new domain name as a "sub domain" But from what I've read in the links they send me is a subdomain is for things like "forum/domain.com" This new domain name has nothing to do with the old one, so I do not want to link it to the old name. If that makes sense. Honestly I don't know anymore lol, I'm confused. First the whole thing started out as transferring a domain name to them but couldn't because the new domain is less than 60 days old, then they tell me to make it a sub domain, so now i'm all confused.

Hopefully that made sense tho.

Who is your host and is it a hosting package for a single domain only? If, like in my hostgator plan, you have unlimited or more domains allowed, just go to the cpanel and "ADD ON" the domain. That is technically a subdomain of the hosting account main domain, but in reality, it is the same as just adding another domain to the account. The url will be newdomain.com, rather than a typical subdomain format such as someword.olddomain.com.

... and right. None of the registrars allow you to transfer a domain out before 60 days.

    • Yes it's HostGator. Thanks for clearing that up. I thought that's what they meant but when they emailed me and sent me the links to read it made it sound totally different lol.
