Page Rank - Which Is Better?

by Kat Bartone 4 replies
Hi,

I read in another thread that static HTML pages do better with retaining page rank over time than Wordpress pages.

Assuming all other things equal, do you think this is accurate?

I'm about to start some new microniche sites, and trying to decide which way to go.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't see how this can be the case. PageRank is determined by a number of factors. The biggest factor, is who is linking to you.

This has nothing to do with static/dynamic content.

I thought PR of the page is determined by the combined PR of the incoming links. What difference does it make if the page is built on Wordpress, Joomla or purely static HTML?

    Kat,

I'm not sure I agree with that article... but perhaps I haven't done enough comparison with my own network of sites.

But it shouldn't really matter though. I can build quality backlinks to a wordpress-based site as much as I can with a purely static html page.

If that were the case, the top web designers would not be using wordpress.
