Akismet is definitely essential; at one point it went down for a couple days and I received almost three hundred spam comments--on my least visited website.

The other plugin I absolutely love having is Shareaholic. It's easier than trying to code individual buttons onto every post and/or page, and the tracking lets you see how many people are sharing your post in real time.

Deffo has to be Yoast, another good SEO one is called "All In One SEO Pack" i also use Schema for Article, Google loves structured data

I was leaning towards yoast. But now I'm thinking Squirrly Plugin is one I can't live without. I just like installing and reviewing all kinds of plugins, when I should be creating content instead.

I have found these 3 to be really helpful:

1. W3 Total Cache - dramatically reduces my website loading time
2. BJ Lazy Load - Lazy loads the images so the site loads quickly
