Converting form Frontpage to Xsite Pro

by petertremayne 4 replies
Hi, I want to convert my wordpress blogs and frontpage built sites to xsite pro.

Will I lose my rankings if I do this and will I be able to use the 2 programs side by side on my PC during the switch?

Thanks for any advice,

Peter

You'll need to redo everything from scratch, but why would you want to take a step backwards from wp to xsitepro?

You might. Google seems to prefer WP sites and if the URLs are different you'll need to redirect all the old ones to the new pages.

    That's not a problem.

I gave up on xsitepro and switched everything over to wp and have never looked back.

      Thanks for the reply Kirk.

I am currently using Frontpage 2003 to publish my regular sites and to ftp my wordpress blogs that also run on Semiologic Pro.

I worried that Frontpage will soon become incompatible with my wordpress blogs.

I tried using Microsoft Expression but had a nightmare running the 2 programs side by side. I'm not very tech savvy and gave up and went back to Frontpage.

I do prefer WP but think I need a new way to ftp. Xsite seems like it's easy to understand!

FTP is simple. You could even use internet explorer or firefox with the ftp plugin installed, if you wanted to. There are a lot of simple to use FTP clients out there.

If you are just using the file uploading capabilities of FP, you shouldn't have problems with WP. WP doesn't care how you upload the files.

You can also use a tool like the Windows Live Writer. (Writer Zone - Windows Live)

Its much easier to publish a post with Live Writer IMO.
