I need to buy a domain name for a client - there is not heaps available in .com

How does everyone feel about .co

What does it represent to you.

.com always resonates with me and I'm not sold on .co but the domain name wouldn't be as catchy. I don't like .net either so much...

Your thoughts - am I looking into this too much?

.co is a country level domain for Columbia .. So if you are not based in Columbia I would not recommend it!
If you are based in Columbia then it will be good for SEO in local search results

Ok then, that's weird. I have been noticing people have been buying it when .com is not available.

If .com wasn't available what domain extension would you as the next best thing?

With a little thought and imagination you can still create an effective .COM by adding a short, appropriate prefix or suffix to the domain name you need.

Yep we have tried to find something suitable with .com but it really does become a stretch and there are more options with .co

.CO can also be used as a COMPANY/CORPORATION. I don't think it is specifically for Columbia. One of the advantage of using .CO is that not too many uses it compare to .COM

Just don't pick a .co domain that has the exact .com counterpart already registered AND in use. We're using a .co domain for one of our sites and it is doing quite well. Though, it might be frustrating for visitors that thought you had a .com and they reach a domain for-sale page when they're just trying to navigate to your site

.com domain is the most popular domain extension. If you don't find any .com domain, try altering the name.
