What's the Legality of Video Downloaders?

Just wondering what the legality of video downloaders are.

I'm 98% done with a chrome extension that lets you download videos from Lynda.com.

It not only lets you download videos in whatever resolution you want, but it allows you to download the audio as well as subtitles to each video file as well.

I'm going to automate it where it allows you to download an entire course with only a couple of clicks too.

This is mainly a personal project of mine, although I was considering putting it up and selling it on the chrome store.

Being that this is entirely client side and happens all in the user's browser (not the server), it's not like I'm running a service, but instead just selling functionality that users can install themselves.

I created this app mainly because I want to be able to watch Lynda.com videos on my blu-ray player. Lynda.com does have a phone app and desktop app, but you can't really watch videos on anything that doesn't use their app.

What's the legality of this?

Thanks

As always, I would strongly suggest contacting a competent Attorney in your jurisdiction.
