That's entirely up to you! The idea of landing page is to entice people to want to subscribe.

"Landing page" is a generic term.

If you mean an opt-in page then the only options should be opt-in or leave.

What kind of landing page are you building? It is hard to get a proper advice when there is not enough information about what you are doing.

    Never.

As Brent stated, the prospect should only have two choices: subscribe or leave.

If the viewer won't "opt-in" at no cost, then it's going to be difficult to get the person to buy from you.

Yes, of course, a few people over the years might be nurtured into becoming a buyer . . . but your time is better spent nurturing those that have "qualified" themselves (raised their hands) and joined your list.

The focus of your "prospecting" should be to identify the "ripe" fruit on the tree, not to go after the "green" unripe stuff.

    The best to you,

    Steve

I have built opt-in pages with a skip option.

However, I already had the users email. So it didn't matter if they skipped. I also added a redirect if they tried to close the browser window. So no matter what they did, they were going to the offer page.

But as Brent and Steve said, under normal circumstances you probably only want the user to have the option to either opt-in or leave.

You need to split-test this and let the data tell you.
Don't guess, don't speculate - test and let the results dictate your decision.

    The correct answer is "maybe".

The term landing page simply means the first page a visitor lands on when coming to your site. Depending on where they came from, the landing page might be your home page, a blog post, review page, your about page, or something different.

If you meant opt-in page (aka, squeeze page), then the others are correct - the choices should be either Submit or Back.

Unless you have a good reason for a third option. Sending them to wherever they would have gone had they opted in because you're afraid to lose them is not a good reason.

Oh, and that idea of redirecting people to a sales offer if they attempt to close the squeeze page? Really good way to alienate people and make sure they never touch your pages, landing, sales or otherwise, again...IMNSHO.

You should find out for yourself by split testing two versions of the page.
