Like what is the proccess regarding starting a project.
Do you do mock-up first before receiving upfront payment or after ?
Do you have to have a contract? If so, what are the most common terms of it.

I meet with a client and we discuss everything about a new website. If the client says do it then I get a 50% deposit.

I build the client site on my test server. When the client approves it then the client pays me the other 50% of my fees and then I make the site live on the client's domain.

I also will not build a site unless I can manage it for a set monthly fee. That not only protects the client's site, it also protects my brand and gives me a monthly income.

I always let the client purchase their own domain with a registrar and I manage it for them. I don't want the responsibility of paying for a client's domain and that way it's always their responsibility.

I own my own servers so I host 90% of my clients. The ones that have their own hosting I also manage that for them as well.

If you're going to manage websites and you're new about it, you may want to consider getting a reseller hosting account so you can host for your clients.
