Does anyone on here design and host their own landing pages OR do you buy into an external services such as un bounce and various others.

If you do use an external company for this please tell me why this would be good?

    Hi,

I prefer WordPress rather than using unbounce or leadpages because wordpress is free, Only need to pay for hosting. There are some plugins with drag and drop page builders which can allow you to create your landing pages. my favorite is this free plugin I got from pluginops here : http://pluginops.com/page-builder/

WordPress is far better choice because it can be a central hub for all your content and marketing campaigns. (Time saver)

    Use wordpress.
    Make sure it's self hosted.

Never put your success in anyone else's hands. When you go with a company such as the ones you mentioned there is always the risk of them slapping your account or going out of business.

    Generally not a good idea.

    Have a great day.

thanks guys - Any thoughts where I can find someone to employ to build these things.

I looked at Instabuilder and that seems good - just that time is money - and I rather let someone lose on this who knows what they are doing!

We need a couple of landing pages - but obviously as time goes by we need more....

Please let me know if you or someone you know is interested in doing this. Recommendation welcome!

My landing page came from the system i bought because i want to ensure it's high converting.
You can also create atleaste 3-5 landing page and split test it for the most opt-in rate.

The reason you use an external company is for some of the integrations, functionality, templates, speed to set up, split testing, cloning, sharing, etc

It all comes down to where you are in the scheme of things.

What you can afford and what you really need to scale.

Personally I've used Optimizepress amongst other wordpress solutions.

Got some things working nicely with Landing Page Monkey which is good for just landing pages.

Got things working well in a fully integrated sense with Clickfunnels.

It all comes back to the whole picture you are trying to work to and what else you need or may need moving forward.

The landing page although an important part of any funnel is but only one part.

Think a bit about how the whole picture comes together and what is required to make things work for your business.

One of the advantages of some of the bigger supported solutions is the ability to choose popular structures or designs that are working or have been tested by others.

It can be a bit of a false economy if you buy into something that doesn't get supported or updated because with the way things change so fast if you buy into a product without updates or support you can end up with problems just when you've got things working.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

Excellent counterpoint to all the Wordpress advocates. I have used several: Wordpress, Unbounce, Hubspot. Regarding your remark "...what you really need to scale," one advantage to using an enterprise-level landing page subscription service is resistance to traffic spikes.

One of my clients received an unexpectedly massive traffic spike that took down their site. We were able to recover pretty quickly by moving the site to a dedicated Amazon EC2 instance, but in the interim, we redirected all web traffic to our Hubspot lead capture form, which was solid as a rock.

Not an ideal solution, but Hubspot saved the day. There are cheaper services like Instapage that would have done just as well in this respect.

In short, paying a little something for a dedicated subscription-based landing page service provides enterprise-grade hosting that will resist hundreds or thousands of simultaneous visitors.

You can do all of that with OptimizePress, and you own it.

Personally prefer out of the box products. Takes care of many CSS issues than if you try to DIY with your own programmer. Particularly responsiveness. There are a lot to choose from most come with trials.

Wouldn't touch plugins + Wordpress with landing pages, especially not Optimizepress.

Slow and their support is a bit "may as well not exist". If you have an issue expect comments relating to other browsers, other computers, other Internet connections, other users not having issues; bugs will absolutely never relate to their plugin or something they consider within their control.

  • The best thing to do would be to hire someone who will design a custom landing page template for you - you can have them do revisions for you until you are fully satisfied with its look and feel. Once the design is complete, you can ask them to develop the page for you in WordPress.

Don't get stuck on little details like this. It's a lot more important to actually make your lp's, than it is to choose the perfect platform to host them.

That said, here's my two cents:
    - what Enfusia said about how a platform can "slap your account" is totally irrelevant unless you're doing something illegal. If you're really worried, save screenshots of your lp's and you can reproduce them the next day on a differnet platform if something goes wrong.
    - Wordpress can be very slow and that can cost you money. Only use it if you can get your pages to load quickly
    - Leadpages is very easy. I haven't used their new page builder but it looks like a cinch to use.
    - I personally use Unbounce a lot because I like that I can control everything down to the pixel. The downside is that as pretty as the templates are, they are designed with more corporate clients or start-ups in mind, not Warrior Forum types. So you will need to customize. Look for templates on Themeforest to upload if you're going to use Unbounce
    - Clickfunnels is fantastic and is the best choice if you are selling a digital product because they make it so incredibly easy to set up.
    - There are gazillions of people you can outsource to on Upwork
    - Keep it simple and don't obsess over this stuff.
    - Write out your lp's on paper before you make them so you don't get stuck

    I hope that's helpful.

i personally like Wordpress and host them myself, created a couple of LP's and use them till today. Use an online company to build your first LP's, for example these: http://gemphis.com or http://optimedia.com
