    I´m not sure if there is an accurate answer for your question. Obviously big companies are going to spend more, many small people don´t have those kind of funds to spend. Common sense would say the most popular niches are the ones that most is spent on by smaller people, though. What are the most popular niches? So many of them, not sure how anyone can determine that either.

    Now a days, the most expensive websites are the ones that offer highest security against hackers and of course DDos (overloading your server to freeze). Websites that are following high AJAX technology depending on the application should be expensive as well.

      Well not in SaaS- sometimes AJAX needs some extra work but rest is offered within SaaS.
