Google only updates the Pagerank toolbar (where you can actually see pagerank) 3-5 times a year. Until Google does a PR update, I am afraid you will have to wait. There is a difference between no pagerank (a grayed out PR meter) and 0 Pagerank. The former means that there has not been a PR update since that page was indexed, the latter means that it was indexed and did not merit a Pagerank.

To increase your rank you will need unique indexable content and links from other high PR sites/pages.

Good luck and stick with it.

It will take more than three weeks to get a PR, but the next update is coming soon (i think).

The most important factor in PR is your backlinks. You need to get backlinks with keyword anchor text on high PR sites that have 'rel="dofollow"' or no rel at all. Links with rel="nofollow" won't do nearly as much good.

You also need to rank well for keywords you choose or in other words, have content highly relevant to the keywords you use.

You also want to make sure your site doesn't get banned or penalized, so be careful with any "questionable advertising techniques" you use

Actually PR (in my experience) mostly given for traffic, not for backlinks.
Having said that one of my PR0 domains with only 1 page of rather lame content ranks on the first page of Google for 90,000,000+ competition for $10/click keyphrase.

    Thats purely due to backlinks.

Page Rank takes time, and furthermore you will need to have other good Page Rank websites linking back to you (not directories).

This way the search engines will realized that this is a natural linking.

By the way, Page Rank is not that important as you think it is.

thanks to everyone for your responses. I will re-build my web-site first (got terrible comments on another forum about the website) and then will start working on the link building

I see your focus is page rank... but I assume your real goal is traffic...

Look into social networks- MySpace, facebook, yahoo, etc. You'll find that approach will do both for you at once. They do, after all, have a respectable PR, and are also swarming with groups of people that share common interests (called "Groups"- imagine that!).

...and be patient- this is a progressive task that requires persistence. The high payouts come later- then you can get lazy, lol.

Ad as many unique pages and content to your site, update your site regularly.

This basically means your site is new and will have problems ranking for keywords.

Just keep working on it and you'll get there.

    Remember content is KING.

This is nice, I'm still waiting for a page rank update too.
If you have enough balclinks and unique content, on the next PR update you can reach the PR1 or PR2, I think.
    Good luck to your website!
