I've been operating a web-based business for a few months, but it's become quite clear to me that I'm missing an important fundamental: tracking urls and where my customers come from. I CAN see in the AWstats panel where my visitors are coming from, but I CANNOT see what sources my customers (who actually bought something) came from. How can I track this?

A few weeks ago I had a problem with order fulfillment and someone recommended dlguard. So far they've proved to be VERY useful. Can someone recommend a system that tracks clicks in a similar way?
I'm aware that there is a lot of work involved in editing each and every link; but that's part of the process, and not what worries me.
Ideally, I need something that would indicate to me much like Aweber does what link a customer clicked (or series of links in the case of multiple sales pages) to get to the paypal purchase page.

P.S. If you've used a tool that you would recommend or wouldn't, please by all means mention it here, as it will help me make my decision.
