    Your local community college that has a webdesign program may be a good place to start. search your local craigslist. or go the internete woute and hasle through the electronic path of communication with people thatare 12 hr off in timezones. LOL

    Fiverr is NOT a good place to get a website designed, look on G Maps to see the reputation of web designers, price very much depends on the design of the site and it's capabilities, your needs and wants etc. Good Luck!

    Everything depends what you want it to do. Take a site that has a high volume of traffic with custom design and multiple pages $500.00 may be reasonable. If you are putting a 1-2 page professional site together, it may be on the high side depending what you want it to do.

    Have you tried the Warrior Classifieds section, found a good one here awhile back. Used every year for at least 5 years. Now he seems to Missing in action.
    Watch out hired someone off o'desk years ago and they did not follow thru, saying they needed access to some information that was private.

    You should check out onlinejobs. The cost depends on how experienced and how good the designer is. But overall, labor costs is cheaper in this market compared to others.

    However, if you're looking to spend $5 for a site, forget it. I know there are a few good people in there but not many.

    Wordpress is free platform and you can try and buy a good theme and build the website on that. It will also require hosting and domain so it won't be free but if you are looking for doing thing right on low cost that might be the best way if you have time to learn how to do it.

    I would say WordPress.com as that's the free version.
    WordPress.org is where you have somebody build a site and the main advantage is that you have control. The free ones restrict a lot of things.

    My experience with fiverr.

    If you're looking for quick fixes, you can surely go for fiver. You can easily find people offering web design services on fiverr but they are super busy and apart from that the cost $500 is decent if the person is qualified.

    If you're looking for good service, you should also consider support. If your provider is ready to walk an extra mile for a good support you should pay $500 for that. As most people may not be familiar with stuff like coding and editing. so after site building people need some support to learn system. and with systems you'll never be so sure it will run forever with out any issue or it needs timely update. so you'll require support.
