Best free wordpress plugin/template for a link gallery

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a plugin that would allow me to create a "gallery" of links. I want to create a "portfolio" of useful links for my students. Each position in the portfolio would have an image and a short description that would show up when pointed (just like when you post a link on facebook - it fetches the description and the image of the website/video). Once clicked, it would take the visitor straight to the desired website.

Eventually, I would like the site to have features like:
- a filter on the top (by categories/recently added/etc)
- a sidebar with categories
- an option to add to favorites (see the video)
- create an account to keep your favorites




Any ideas?
