Product Category Images Too Large

I am trying to design a website, using WordPress and Woocommerce.

The Category images shown on the 'Shop' page are huge, making them be displayed in a single column of 'clickable' buttons, rather than an array of, say, six rows of five columns of buttons. If I knew how to do it, I would post a screenshot, here, to show what I mean, but I don't know how to do that.

I have tried changing the sizes of the images used, then regenerating the thumbnails, but nothing seems to work.

This seems like it would be a pretty basic thing to fix for someone familiar with Woocommerce, but I am not an experienced user of Woocommerce or programming.

I have posted my problem on the Woocommerce support website, but haven't gotten any resolutions, yet.

    Did you try , WooCommerce settings page, click on products tab, go to bottom of page , adjust size in Catalog images or any other option, and should change for you.

    hello, I have read from someone by trying using this plugin wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails.

      Thanks for that reply; however, I have tried regenerating my thumbnails, but it didn't help. Still stuck.

    It looks like you are uploading small category images and they forced to fill the division dedicated to them. Try uploading larger category images then they will crop properly to fit it's place.

      Hi Cuneyt. Greetings to you from the United States. Thank you for your help; however, I have tried all different sizes of images, but the results are the same. I just wish that I knew what I was doing.

    I recommend using this free online image resizing tool:

    Online Image Resizer. Resize and Crop Images and Photos Online. Capture website screenshots.

    Also, your web page took too long to load up. I would get the "WP Smush" plugin and reduce the file size of the photos before adding them to the page.

    If your photos won't resize when editing your page then you must have a problem with your theme or a plugin. WooCommerce will have to fix that.

      Thanks for that helpful advice. I got the 'Smush' plugin, as you suggested, then ran it to 'smush' all of my images.

      Are you saying that I should also run the image resizer tool, as well or is just the Smush plugin good enough?

        Hello,
        You need to upload the right size, do not Smush anything, your site will not load as fast and perform as it should, the plugin works to hard to fix images and then will stop working, no plugin is needed, plugins slow down website, just fix image size before uploading.

          Now I don't know what to do. Was it wrong to have used the 'Smush' plugin? Should I deactivate it? I don't even know just what it does, but assume that it resized images so they aren't so large and take up too much of my website's resources.

          What's the difference between the online Image Resizer and Smush? Should I use one or the other? both? none?
