I have a new website, which to compete, I must finally break down and use an ssl certificate. Anyone have a low cost source for this based on experience?

  • you might try letsencrypt

  • Go with Let's Encrypt. If you are using a web host that supports them through cPanel, it is literally a case of pushing a couple of buttons to get your certificate up and running. If not, it is a little more complicated than that, but still pretty easy and free.

  • I use ' Let's Encrypt' as well, for SSL, on my Siteground server. It's the best ..... fast, easy to use and inexpensive.

  • Using iPage

Looks like it may not be supported.

    • I don't think any of the hosts owned by EIG are supporting Let's Encrypt. I would get away from iPage or any other host owned by EIG. They provide terrible service and an awful product.

  • If "Let's Encrypt" is not supported you need to find another host.

    Just my 2cents
  • Most of the cPanel web hosting provider now a days provide "Let's Encrypt" and its free of cost, no need to pay anything for SSL certificate but as you mentioned your web hosting provider is not supporting "Let's Encrypt" , therefore you can try "Comodo Free Certificate" and if its also not supported by your web hosting company than its time to change web hosting provider.
  • You can run your DNS through CloudFlare. They are a free service that also optimizes your traffic. They also provide you with free SSL.

  • If you use a VPS or a dedicated server use letsencrypt. It's very easy to install. Some shared hosting providers also support letsencrypt.

  • Let's encrypt is giving SSL certificate at free of cost but for low cost source for SSL certificates & best customer support for free SSL installation guide I can suggest re-seller like ClickSSL
