Opinions On Importance Of SSL Requested...

Hi,

I just set up a new domain for a site that will be a little different then what I've done in the past.

I'm not concerned with SEO as the competition is big, well-funded and fierce. For the same reason, I won't be using PPC (my forte).

I won't be collecting any information on site.

This will be an information site monetized with affiliate products. I will promote it "manually" which means posting on related sites, social media, etc.

My curiosity is if people will distrust the site if it doesn't have SSL.

For me personally, if I have no intention of entering any information on a site, SSL doesn't matter.

Would appreciate your opinions. If you were researching a particular product type would you be concerned that an info. site was not "secure?"

Thanks in Advance!

In my opinion, internet users are aware that any type of "warning" may be a "threat" and that alone is bad for my business. When my business model is to earn money from visitors owed to the info I do not want anything to deter the trust factor that it is safe to do business on my site.

In my experience, most internet users do not know the real meaning of the SSL warning, so when they see "warnings" of any type they are more than likely to click away, i.e. lost click-through, etc.

I was kind of thinking the same thing.

I always need to remind myself that I am not an "average" Internet user.

Also, the target market is 50+ in age which may contribute to what you said about not understanding more than it's a warning and that's not good.

Of course it depends on your visitor, but most likely you will be fine without SSL. However, if you are trying to create a true trust factor with your audience you should consider using it.

Tons of hosts give them to you for free, or at least with BlueHost.

See if warning of non-secure comes then a user will surely ignore your site. So better you install SSL Certificate on your website. Go with Domain Validation certificate the prices are less & you can get coupons also from some of the sites like CheapSSLCouponCode and you will be saved from warning also.

In a virtual world, there is always an element of doubt when sending or receiving information. A large number of visitor leaves the website when they asked to provide about themselves, simply because the website was not secure.

There is no other way to build user trust by enabling SSL on your website. User has to feel comfortable, safe and secure browsing on your website.

If you implemented an SSL Certificate on your website, it gives your website visitor trust and confidence in your site security.
