Customize Theme Without It Being Activate

I am running with a theme now, but would like to have a second theme. Is it possible to keep the current theme active while customizing a second theme? I really don't want to have it active and then spend a good amount of time customizing/modifying while its up. Hopefully I am making sense.

You need to be doing your theme edits offline with WAMP.

WAMP is a free offline server that you install on your PC. Download and install WAMP and then download and install Wordpress, both to your PC.

There's a bunch of tutorials on Google Search and Youtube.

There are also some Local Server. That you can use easily. such as XAMPP, WAMP. All those server are working as a local server.

Hi Seymour, Step by step process below

    1. Take a backup your live site
    2. Install Wordpress on your local server (WAMP, XAMPP)
    3. Install backup to the local server
    4. Install your new theme and customize it
    5. After finished customizing than take backup your local WordPress setup
    6. Update you live site to local server backup.

That's it if you do everything right your live website will activate with no downtime.
If you face any problem please comment I would love to help you.
    Thanks
