What Platform to Use for a Product Site?

I'm writing up a requirements page for a job I plan to outsource to a developer, but I need some help determining what platform to use to get this done, meaning whether to use static pages, joomla or wordpress. I need to be able to edit the product pages, which will contain several categories of software products I'm going to sell.

I plan on having product category pages where I'll have a table like display of different products in the same category, but those products can change or be discontinued, so what do you guys recommmed for a site like this?

      I've used Joomla before for other things, but I don't think there are enough themes available for joomla. I think also that designing for Joomla is a little more expensive. But I'm definitely keeping it an option.

      Do you have any samples of product sites designed with Joomla?

    I'd personally go for Wordpress but I am biased to it I expect as I'm quite familiar with it. I find it really easy and quick to update and excellent for making attractive and functional looking sites. I expect you'll also find that because plenty of people have also created product-based websites using this content management system you're likely to find a load of different ecommerce, etc, plugins that could have what you want set up in no time at all.

    You say you are going to sell them....
    will you not need a shopping cart?
    There are many that can be used for digital downloads as well as hard copies.
    Zen cart would be one of them.
