Options to build my own site on my pc?

Hey guys, I have tried a few drag and drop website builder systems. Problem with each of them was all their tech support does when asking for help on customization is to lead you to video tutorials which do not cover your specific issue.

Can anyone recommend an "easy" system/platform for building a site on my pc which won't require coding but one which I might get support for customizations please?

Why do you want to build it on your PC specifically?

All website builders I know use online platforms.

What do you mean by "building a site on your PC"? Like an offline environment?

I would recommend to go with Wordpress and install any builder like : Elementor, Visual builder or Thrive.

You can go to Wordpress.org and build a site without coding skills. You can pick out a theme you like and set it up. There are plenty of youtube videos that show you how to build a site if you want a idea how to do it.They have multiple free themes that work great or you can get a paid theme. If you use namecheap for your hosting they can have them help you set up of site if you need it.

If you are willing to do ot offline. Go with Xampp and Elementor. Great support and easy editing.

Look for a theme powered by it and see if they offer pre-built demos.

    Good luck!

Yes guys, it is of common practice to develop a website on a local PC before posting it online, only you need to create a local development environment on your local machine, a local virtual server if you want to create the website with WordPress then you will need dynamic components and modules which most of the time require a web programming language and a database server.

If you want to develop only in HTML/CSS/JS then no special environment is required, everything will run in your browser locally.

To install a virtual machine on your local PC, whether Linux, mac, or windozzze I recommend you use the special development stacks from Bitnami. They even have a special WordPress stack that you can install on your local machine very easily and start building your website immediately. See this https://bitnami.com/stack/wordpress/installer

I also recommend, as a few have mentioned here above, to use the Elementor plugin as your page builder, imho this is by far the best drag&drop page builder one can find right now, and much easy to use on top of that.

    Best regards,
    Andy

Thanks for the approbation I did not know it was required

That said, I would not say that XAMP is easier to use than the Bitnami stack installer. It's all the contrary, imho.

XAMP can be confusing for many people, especially neophytes, and you still have to install WordPress thereafter installing it.

The Bitnami stack installs everything in one shot, you can start building your wordpress site in about 2 minutes and it will install the most recent versions of everything. No settings to deal with, nothing, just install and start building your site it will even open your main browser to the good localhost address for you.

However, if you already have XAMP installed or would still prefer to use it, there also exists Bitnami stacks for XAMP https://bitnami.com/stack/xampp#wordpress

If you have low budget and with no specific skill. than go to online platform like wix.com otherwise WordPress is the best option for online Or offline users both. In this CMS you can work with in few hours. just go to wordpress.org and download wordpress and also you have to install xamp server for offline working.
and yes PC is the best and strong option to do any type of work.

Its not a good idea to do this on your pc, unless you have some knowledge of webservers, etc. With hosting so cheap these days, a basic Linux hosting plan is the most efficient way to develop a site.

Hi Yes it is a good idea for several reasons as we have explained here above, if ever you would have read the thread before posting, which should be the normal way to PARTICIPATE IN A DISCUSSION which is the purpose of a FORUM.

We even explained how to do it very easily even if you do not have "some knowledge of webservers etc.", obviously the main reasons to do so is not because hosting would be "expensive", indeed...

Personally, I would NOT waste to develop a website on a CHEAP HOSTING environment, because it's a real pain, and it's not the most secure environment also, especially cpanel...

      Cheers!
