Why are Google removing Star From SERP?

I noticed on SERP google is removing star snippet can anyone give reason here.

    Straight from a google search:


    With a new algorithm, Google is determined to remove "self-serving" reviews from rich snippets in search results. Thankfully for ecommerce companies, traditional product reviews on product pages shouldn't be affected.

    The articles was dated sept 19 ....there's a full page of results on google about this change.


    When marketers find a way to 'game' google....google finds a way to disallow that latest trick.

      Yes, that was mainly because people were using own rating to influence users. Though it was not putting an impact on the search engines and that's why Google was not putting an eye on it. But now, since people have started consider these stars in their buying behavior, Google has taken this step.
