I was just checking my google analytics and I saw this message.

"Your site performs below average for Safari"

how can I find out what the issues are?

My site gets an A with GTMetrix, it's just the safari mobile there's a problem with, hope someone can advise.

Is there a better board I should be posting this to?

I was going to suggest posting on Apple's Safari help site but see you've done that. If any forum members know the answer they will post when they see the question.

My guess (and it's only a guess as I am not an expert on the subject) is that your site may not be loading fast enough or fully optimized for mobile devices. Could that be a problem?

yeah I'm not an expert either but I've had a lot of other work done to it, seems like it's just a safari mobile issue and I'd like to get that fixed.

someone who'd been helping me said-
with mobile my friebd said- But... check the site on mobile (any browser) and you'll see that the homepage testimonials are off - not responsive. Also the photos under /projects/... are not centered.

Start with, what I think is obvious, and look at the page firsthand on an Android and an Apple phone, and tablet?

I Build web pages and my entire office is run on Windows, but we have macs to double check how things work on the iOS platform. Same is true with Mobile, having an iPhone and an iPad to look at your pages.

Yeah that's why I'm asking here, as I have no idea what's wrong or what to look for. I'd post my website but that's not allowed
    (mod edit)

most all my pages score an A now using GTMetrix as I've had a lot of work done to my site after it was transfered over to W Press.

so why do I see this message? "Your site performs below average for Safari"

Have YOU checked the load time, etc, on your phone?

Have you even TRIED to look at your site on your phone? I don't think so. Because it's not IM related, allowing the link here

You site loads quickly - the images scroll just fine.....but....
The 'testimonials' are totally screwed up You couldn't MISS that if you looked at it.

    The 'testimonials' display as below:

    TESTIM
    ONIALS

    Joe
    built
    a
    bea
    uti-
    ful
    Japa
    nese
    gar
    den

It is impossible to read the testimonials because they keep changing/scrolling - That would be enough to be 'below average'...

yeah that might just be the reason for that safari score. Would I need a developer to fix that? I'm not working with any right now.

Easiest option would be to replace the scrolling 'testimonials' with a fixed page of testimonials/review with a link to it on the main page...

The way the testimonials are set up they are not only randomly scrolling from left to right.....they are also using 'more info' links to show the entire testimonial... Those 'reviews' are CENTERED on the page line by line - so when they display on the phone they are centered on a much smaller screen.....which may be the only issue.

Might start by removing the 'centering' and placing left margins as with other paragraphs....might remove the scrolling feature and just list the testimonials as a paragraph each. You don't need a major overhaul - just need to solve the issue that is the problem.

Did you build your own site? Can you work with it? If not, you may need to hire a freelancer to improve the mobile display of the site.

It's not a huge project....or at least I don't think it should be.

I built the original site starting in 1999, with dreamweaver, but since it was the site was transfered to WP I can't edit it anymore, and I don't know coding at all.

can anyone recommend a freelancer for me?

Start with the 'for hire' section in the marketplace here....those are ads by members and many of them are quite talented...

edit: Or place an inexpensive 'want to hire' ad giving specific requirements...and let freelancer find you

-"Compatibility" is one parameter that you may need to check for your website. The webpge might not be compatible with browser.

-If There is an issue of "Page load time", then optimize your website.
