Page Layouts

Hey warriors, [intro], I've been doing HTML and some CSS for a few years but never got into IM, ....until now. I realized, I already have the foundation for this and it looks like something I may enjoy alot.

Anyway, I've noticed everyone is using what appears to be 800 as the standard header and table size for you're landing and sales pages. I have a few sites like this as well. I'm just wondering what the remaining logic is for this in the world of wide screens.

  • Although there are wider screens available the most current screen width is 1024 there are still people out there with screens that are 800 wide. Since these are still prospective customers, it is worth considering them because they represent sales, so its worth avoiding a horizontal scroll bar.

    • I can accept that. Thanks for the feedback Susan. Cntrl + or - will resize most browser's today . However, if the subject is still using 800 then they probably do not know that. I like the way 800 looks myself.

  • I would try and keep your designs less than 800 wide. Most all of the designs in my collection are smaller than 800px.

That way you are sure your LP to be easily seen by the majority of computer screens out there.

  • Very simple, it has become a convention in mini-site design. Like having a logo at the top left and a navigation right near it.

This has just the standard for mini-sites, you can break this but you may see that it might not look much like a mini-site anymore
