Help With Wordpress

Hi- Newbie here. I am working on a Wordpress site where I have the home page as a static page. I've added the text and it's fine.

When I went in to add an image (a checkmark) on the page though it shows up in the Visual editor just fine (I had to get the folder location corrected first) but it doesn't show up on the website itself- instead the alt tag shows.

What could that be due to? Shouldn't the website show what the visual editor shows?

Are you using the full URL to the image? You can PM me with details if you want me to take a look.
