seeking video hosting suggestions for my website

Hi, I've been hosting my own videos, but need to switch over to using video hosting service. Many videos need to remain private on our website, for our membership site. We have 20+ videos and growing.

The number of video hosting services is intense. Anyone here have suggestions on a service that includes player I can imbed in my WordPress site?

I'm decent at tech stuff, although to host on Amazon S3 looks like overkill to setup/use. Of course, I'm willing to dive in deep on a service if it will save me big on monthy exenses. Of course, a service that optimizes the video per device is a must.

Some of the various services I've seen are Vidyard, Wistia, Vimeo, Bunny, Pandavideo, Foliovision, Spotlightr, Sproutvideo

Bunny and Vidyard have caught my attention.

I'm walking into this green and I'm trying to be careful about overpaying, poor service, etc.

Just like with email services, I went through a bunch of bloated, overpriced services until I found sendgrid.

Thanks for any suggestions for choosing a video hosting service.

Why don't you just use YouTube.

You can set your videos to unlisted or private and embed them on your website.

Thanks, but can't people share the link when they are on video? And then anyone can see video if they have link?

People can do a lot of things.

They can copy your entire operation and resell it as their own.

And if you are going to worry about all of that, then you probably shouldn't be dealing with people.

for me it has to be you tube, some dont use because they cant rank the videos, but if you do review videos it is so much easier

S3 is your best option for pay-as-you-go in terms of bandwidth and delivery fees. In the beginning, you will have the fewest members, so your S3 bill will be mere cents, if not a few dollars. Compare that to paying $199 to $299 out the gate for a video hosting platform like Vimeo, for bandwidth you may never use for a long time.

Plus a lot of these video platforms already host your videos on AWS or Google Cloud, and then charge extra for that same bandwidth. If you use your own S3 account, your bill will always be the lowest it can be.

If you use WordPress, you can use a plugin like S3MediaVault which will allow you to use your own S3 account and thus you pay the lowest compared to any other platform. And you can securely embed video, audio, PDF and any other media from your S3 account on to your WordPress website.

I personally don't upload videos directly to my website. Instead, I host videos on YouTube and then embed them on my website.

YouTube is fine for public videos. For premium members-only videos, YouTube doesn't work.

There's a common misconception that your YouTube videos can be secured if you simply make them "Unlisted". Sure, unlisted videos will not show up in searches, in side-bars or among recommended videos that show up right after a video has finished playing on YouTube.

But just because it doesn't show up anywhere, doesn't mean it is fully protected from unauthorized viewers. If you make your YouTube video unlisted, and then embed that video in your member's area, then once someone gets to that page, and sees that it's a YouTube video, they will be able to click on the YouTube logo, and get directly to that video on YouTube.com.

And they can now share your video link with anyone, by email, or post it on Facebook or an online forum, and suddenly, your members-only video that you thought was secure, is actually publicly available to everyone.

"What about making a YouTube video "Private?"

Private videos can only be viewed by those who you have explicitly invited to access the video. And you can only share it with a maximum of 50 people, and you need to know their email address in advance, and they'll need to have a Gmail account under that email address.

So all of this complexity means that it is a cumbersome manual process, and you cannot automate the providing of access to your videos. So it's not ideal if you want to have more than 50 members in your membership site or online course, or if you want to provide automated access to the videos immediately after they sign up.

So for truly secure, private videos that you wish to publish in the member's area, and make them available to only your authorized members (free or paid), while making sure that they cannot pass around the link to your video, audio, or PDF, you have 2 options: Amazon S3 (or other S3), or a platform like Vimeo/Wistia.

Well deals from allwebhost.com and hostsailor.com can be right for you. They are cheap and reliable.
