How to provide downloads - A/R or link?

I've tried to search for the answer and haven't been able to come up with the right search term, I guess.

I would like to provide a free e-book to subscribers (I know how to do the form for the request). I don't know whether I have to use an autoresponder to provide the e-book or if I can make the e-book reside on a page somehow for subscribers to download.

I'm using a WP blog (not a static website, which doesn't really matter unless there's a super magical plugin for it!

Any suggestions woule be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

    use an auto responder...

after the subscriber put their name in and submit.. send them an email to confirm the optin (recommended or you will get tons of bogus subscriptions) - have a link that they can click on to confirm the subscription, on the confirmation page, link to the download from there...

if your willing to spend money on this, try using a service such as aweber.com

      Thank you, Tuanng:
I should have known that using an A/R would be the best, most efficient and secure method to provide a download. Appreciate your reply.
