its the same installing.. but using fantastico is the no-brainer installations everyone can do it from fantastico because it not so technically..

Not sure why you're "sorry for asking", it's actually an excellent question.

Fantastico simplifies the WordPress installation, and as long as your hosting provider keeps things up to date it is by far the easiest route to go.

A manual installation can have advantages in certain specific situations. For example, if you have several installations to perform that all use the same set of themes and plugins you could create a master template and then upload it to all of the sites.

Another situation may arise when you want to create a custom security hack or configuration, again a manual installation would give you more control.

But in the majority of cases Fantastico is the way to go. It creates a WordPress installation in a matter of seconds without having to bother with file permission and database settings.

How is the upgrade possibility with Fantastico...?

You have to keep going back to CPanel in your hosting account, and re-install a newer version of Wordpress everytime a new version surfaces. And that may overwrite certain config of the old wordpress files if u hv already installed. A faster or more efficient way for upgrading Wordpress will be within your own hosted domain. Whenever there's an upgrade, there's will be a reminder at the top of the interface. So u will not miss it.

I always do that and I find more streamlined and efficient in that way. Do the first install once in Fantastico, and upgrades within Wordpress environment.

Softaculous is easier than anything else. I use it for every wordpress site and it has many other scripts for free.
